Building Bridges: Your Questions Answered
What is Striving to Serve Others?
Striving to Serve Others is a youth-led nonprofit organization dedicated to bridging generations and building stronger, healthier communities through service and the arts. We promote inclusion, connection, and wellbeing by creating meaningful intergenerational experiences—especially between youth, seniors, and veterans. Through art-centered service projects, we empower students to become leaders, foster mutual understanding across age groups, and reduce social isolation. Our programs are designed to be accessible, adaptive, and deeply rooted in compassion and community-building.
How?
We bring K–12 students, seniors, and veterans together through thoughtfully designed art and service events that encourage creativity, compassion, and collaboration between generations. Whether painting, drawing, or creating together, our participants build meaningful connections in a space where everyone belongs and contributes. These shared experiences foster mentorship, leadership, and friendship across age groups.
Why is intergenerational service important?
Service benefits everyone—youth, seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities. Our intergenerational art events help reduce feelings of isolation, build confidence, and strengthen communication and social skills for participants of all ages. When people of different generations come together to create and serve, they learn from one another, feel valued, and form lasting connections that enrich our entire community.
